“My approach to education is through language both as a trumpet player and improviser. I believe that the trumpet should be played in a natural way, more akin to a vocalist. I believe that jazz is a language and should be taught more similarly to an actual spoken language. There is improvised vocabulary and repertoire that you must know to be able to communicate with other musicians in a logical and meaningful way.”
